Information for colleagues about the extreme weather expected on Monday and Tuesday 18-19 July
15 July 2022
The Met Office today issued its first ‘Red Extreme’ heat warning for Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 July, with temperatures expected to reach up to 40°C.
This extreme heat is likely to impact travel and University operations.
Staff who are working on-site are strongly advised to follow NHS hot weather advice; and those working in the sun are encouraged to take particular care.
In line with the University’s extreme weather guidance, departments are expected to stay open wherever possible. However, your line manager or supervisor may agree to putting alternative working arrangements in place (such as working from home), in line with operational requirements.
Your department will inform you if there are any changes to local working arrangements. If you have any questions, contact your relevant departmental contact in the first instance.
